New Release - Teenage thinking

Oscillating between millennial earnestness and gen-z irony with an inescapable optimistic base is Louis, a singer/songwriter hailing from Melbourne, Australia. His original tracks are awash with layers of introspective indie-folk, pure pop sensibilities and rebellious alt rock; marrying infectious hooks with odd individuality.

As a kid, frequent weekend trips to the coast had turned Louis into an unrelenting backseat car singer, warding off boredom and motion-sickness in the process. However, his first regular performances would be as a trumpet player; and he would continue to follow this path in jazz and concert bands till his late teens. Alongside his brass exploits Louis began writing original music and teaching himself guitar, eventually meeting a singing teacher and mentor who recorded his first demos.

Upon finishing school Louis decided not to attend university, opting instead to enter the local open mic scene and become a busker in Melbourne’s famous Bourke St Mall alongside artists such as Tash Sultana, The Pierce Brothers and Woodlock. As the open mics gradually evolved into gigs Louis completed a mentoring program with The Push Inc. and later a promotional campaign with The Real Songwriters of Melbourne. A breakfast meeting with Holy Holy’s Oscar Dawson in 2018 was a turning point. Oscar highlighted the importance of discovering an individual sound and not rushing into releasing music that was yet to be fully developed.

After several more years of performing and songwriting; Louis arranged and recorded the songs for his debut EP ‘Pretty Normal’, produced by Connor Ross and mastered by Liam Jayes.

Louis released his first single, the upbeat but reflective folk-pop track ‘Company’ in late 2022 followed by its synth pop remix ‘Company (Ace Mix).’ His second single ‘Teenage Thinking’, an alt-rock song about the nature of maturity, was released in early 2024, the aforementioned EP is scheduled for release later this year.
